WebNov 22, 2008 · the answer is indeed very simple. you will have no problem using 2 & 3/4" shells in a 3" chambered shotgun. the only time you could run into problems, is if you tried using a shell LARGER (not smaller) than the number printed on the shotgun. using a 3.5 shell in a 3 inch labeled shotgun, 3 inch shell used in a 2.5 inch labeled shotgun, etc etc

You can go the other direction but putting a 2 3/4 inch barrel on a 1100 3 inch magnum receiver but going the other direction is asking for trouble. Yes Remington makes a 1100 3 inch Magnum gun. they do have magnum recievers, but its either or, they either shoot only 2 3/4 or only 3" shells.
