WebWhen blood flows through a vessel, it tends to separate in two different phases. In direct contact with the wall a low viscosity phase exists, which is deficient in cells and rich in plasma and acts as a lubricant for the blood transport. In the central core region of the vessel a high viscosity phase exists, which depends on the hematocrit. WebHematocrit, blood and plasma viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation amplitude (EAA), index (EAI), aggregation half-life time (EAT1/2), and erythrocyte deformability (ED) were evaluated. The best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central retinal thickness (CRT) and visual field (VF) were examined.
